General Installation Guide for DC-DC Brick Power Modules

· installation guidance

1. Safety Precautions

  • Ensure the power is turned off before installation.
  • Use proper ESD protection when handling the module.
  • Avoid exceeding the input voltage range to prevent permanent damage.
  • Maintain the baseplate temperature within the specified operating range.

2. Mechanical Installation

2.1 Mounting the Module

  • Mount the module on a heat-dissipating surface using screws.
  • Apply thermal grease or thermal pad between the module and the heatsink.
  • Use M3 screws and tighten them to the recommended torque (typically 0.4-0.6 Nm).

3.2 Recommended Input Circuit

  • Install a fuse in series with the input to protect against overcurrent.
  • Place a high-value electrolytic capacitor at the input for surge voltage suppression.
  • Use a MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) for transient protection

3.3 Output Voltage Adjustment (TRIM Function)

  • Use an external Rup or Rdown resistor to adjust the output voltage

3.4 Remote Sensing (Sense+ and Sense-)

  • If not used, short Sense+ to Vout+ and Sense- to Vout-.
  • If used, connect Sense+ and Sense- close to the load to compensate for voltage drop.

4. Cooling Requirements

  • Conduction Cooling: Attach the module to a metal plate or heatsink.
  • Forced Air Cooling: Use a fan with airflow direction aligned to the cooling fins.
